Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico Alianza
The agricultural coop in Tierra Amarilla was part of the much larger movement to unify Chicanos in New Mexico to challenge the taking of land from their ancestors. The movement, called the Alianza, was led by Reies Tijerina. His brother Anselmo led the coop in Tierra Amarilla that brought medical care, legal advice and volunteers to the Chicano farmers as they pooled farm equipment, tools and land. Photos taken in the fall of 1969.
